Welcome to the web page for Dr. Nicholas Taylor, Assistant Professor of Digital Media at North Carolina State University.

I am interested in digital gaming cultures and the many forms of communication and work that sustain them, and I am committed to making them more inclusive and equitable. This is carried out through the application of critical, qualitative and participatory research methods in collaboration with gaming communities.

You can find some of my recent work in Games and Culture, Convergence, Game Studies, Ada: A Journal of Gender, New Media, and Technology, and Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication.

At NC State, I teach undergraduate courses on Game Studies, Communication and Technology, and Critical Approaches to Communications Media, and graduate courses on Gaming and Social Networks, Pedagogy and Technology in the Communication Arts, and Qualitative Research Methods in Applied Communication.

I co-direct the Circuit Studio, a digital media research lab and makerspace at NC State.

My CV is available here and I am on Twitter here.
